CYSF Journal: Part 1

Sunday August 3rd, 2008

6:45am (We’re on the plane):
Two days before we left for the Caribbean Youth Science Forum (CYSF), I stood on that rock, with my best friend by my side and I looked out into to ocean before me. I don’t know what she was thinking about but the only thoughts that occupied my mental space were possibilities of what existed beyond that curve in the earth. I longed for a clearer vision or a slightest taste of reality. Squinting doesn’t do you any good you know….(lol)…..

Well I’m on my way to find out what lay beyond that horizon. Could you believe we almost missed the flight? A picture is really worth a thousand words eh. I need sleep!! Four hours is not enough!!! I’m on a plane and all I can find to do besides looking outside, is write and harass people about the time….LOL….Oooooo a cute dude coming on the plane…..And no he did not apparate from some weird place, we made a stop in Grenada….

9:52am (We finally @ UWI)
Wow this place doesn’t look like I expected it. There’s an obvious lack of paint which leads directly to low maintenance costs….smart…..Right now we’re lined up to register. (I’m using my phone btw to type) Why is everyone staring at us???? Could it be my hair? Nope….or could it be the fact that we’re all dressed in matching bright green polo shirts with ‘St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ marked on the front? Ahhhhhh!!! We’ve found the reason!....I feel weird. Wait is that the same guy on the plane???

10:17am (time to unpack)
Ooooo……I’m enjoying myself so far! Well look at who’s bringing my suitcase up the stairs….:D Really cute!

11:22am (Somebody’s missing)
Something funny happened while we were having breakfast. A NIHERST official came up to us and asked us if everyone was here…
“Nope. The others at the airport. They were supposed to be in at 11.”
“What??!!”
They probably all stranded at the airport right now and look at us just fullin’ we guts! You could imagine the looks on their faces when they don’t see anyone there to pick them up??? Don’t look at me I didn’t do it.

2:05pm (Orientation)
Wow! A lot of people here at CYSF boi! It’s about to start but I’m just to busy checking out the scene….:D….

5:29pm (Official Opening)
We’re at the UTT (University of Trinidad and Tobago) Grand Pavillion. (We had to wear our official t-shirts. Finally no one’s staring at me!) Oh it’s just this massive tent with plastic windows, glass doors, curtains on pieces of iron and an artic atmosphere. Least they don’t have to use so much Windex. It is a really nice place but that wasn’t my main focus after all at this moment important people are speaking to us, but I lost. Sooooo…..let’s see if there are any cuties my eyes might just have overlooked at the Orientation…..lol……and no that’s not the only thing on my mind:P I really wanted to know what they had in store for us….guess that means that I have to listen then….:)np

11:02pm (Lights wah?)
“Good night everybody”
“Good night Chris..”
Lights out at 11…wah? That’s funny..That doesn’t mean that I have to sleep…..lol….I’m just happy that I’m on a bed although it is not a soft as I anticipated. It wasn’t very easy getting up here either. Boy if anybody to fall of this bed (due to the size it was not impossible) I sorry fuh them. Serious! Feels like I’m in a closet. Lol.
Just got back from the Ice Breaker. Now that was the most fun I’ve had today. We basically played games. Most fun game: Basket turn over. Everybody was running around like crazy people….lol…Weirdest game: the one where we had to hold random hands (we were in our respective colour houses…CHERRY!!!!!!!!) then untangle ourselves without letting go. What?! I was the girl in the middle *giggles* Everybody cheated. After a while every team just let go and started to shout…..Dinner was ok…a little spicy, but a little is ok. Good night.
